During this scenic mountain bike ride through the very heart of Maremma
towards the coastline we'll be cycling inside the Bandite di Scarlino
Nature Reserve, a protected area of some 6000 hectares of densely wooded
hills. After a well deserved stop at the tiny cove of Cala Violina, one
of the best 10 sandy beaches in Italy, we'll be biking a very scenic
coastal dirt road taking our time to enjoy outstanding views over the
Gulf of Follonica, where small isolated sandy beaches alternate with
high cliffs covered by long stretches of lush pine tree forests. |
