THE ACQUACHETA WATERFALLS

Biking through the wild protected area of the Foreste Casentinesi National Park, after nine exciting fords of the stream that generates the main waterfall, we'll reach the abandoned village of Romiti, lying in a suggestive plateau surrounded by beautiful mountains. Here Dante found a shelter during his exile from Florence. Right behind the ruins of the village is the main fall, a spectacular 70 meter drop of water in the middle of a beech tree forest. Dante was so surprised by the sound of this water that he compared it to the infernal falls of the river Phlegethon that separates the seventh and the eight circle of the Inferno.
